William Blair’s Community Involvement

The William Blair team is committed to creating longer-term partnerships in the communities where its employees work and live. Philanthropy has been a staple of the William Blair culture that was instilled by its founder, William McCormick Blair, more than 80 years ago.

William Blair and its foundation provide financial support to hundreds of charities every year through its grants, sponsorships and employee matching gifts program. William Blair’s current Community Partners include Bernie’s Book Bank, Bunker Labs and Urban Initiatives. The company also pioneered a Community Partners program. Through this initiative, William Blair provides meaningful financial support and volunteer opportunities to its employees. The Community Program has supported college preparation and graduation initiatives, established mentoring relationships, provided new computer labs for afterschool and summer programs, supported arts education in public schools and brought nutritious food to school children and their families.

Mark Brady, William Blair’s Head of M&A is one of the many employees that have used the company’s culture to give back to his Chicago community. Mark is a board member of PlanetEcosystems and the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. Throughout the year, Mark contributes leadership, volunteerism and monetary support to several different charitable initiatives alongside his colleagues.
